History
In Victorian times the gardens had wealthy owners and the young men of the family used to go on their travels across the globe and bring back plants that they have seen in other parts of the world, and some of them not welcome ie: Japanese knotweed!
Luckily in our case our young travellers were more discerning. Included in their collection is a beautiful Tulip tree, several acers, a monkey puzzle tree, a Kumquat tree (which in hotter years bares fruits), palm trees. We are hoping to re-establish the Japanese garden in the future.
All these trees, shrubs and plants need care and attention to thrive in our climate.
