Observations
In the grounds there are several ponds which attract toads, frogs, newts and beautiful dragonflies and mayflies. Each spring the ponds are full of spawn producing the next generation of newts, toads and frogs. At dusk pipistrel bats are seen coming out of their home for an evening flight. Hiding under rocks in the grounds are plenty of slow worms. Wrens are observed at dusk getting ready to roost up for the night in small holes in the walls.
One of the ponds is full of reeds and in this is the home of ducks, moor hens and the reed warbler. Sometimes if you are lucky you may spot a kingfisher. Sparrowhawks along with buzzards, tawny owls, treecreepers, bullfinches, jays, and goldcrest have also been seen, and thought to be part of the woodland residents. Barn owls have also been regularly spotted.
Badgers, deer, foxes and shrews are also resident in the grounds.
It is the Trusts aim to preserve and upkeep all habitats for the future.
